Pandol, a Pomeranian-Chihuahua mix, was a few weeks old when he found his forever home. He was such a cute puppy and his mom adored him right from the very start. He was fortunate to end up in a loving family, but for some reason, he really didn’t spend time with them.
The only time Pandol’s mom saw him was the day he came home. After that, she never had a glance at his face again. He grew up without her knowing how much he changed. She never knew if he was sick or happy or lonely, because, apparently, he lived on his own.
On his first day home, Pandol’s mom let him loose so he could take a tour of his new home. She let him go room to room and even allowed him to step out into the yard. But then, he just walked into the small, dark hole underneath a container van and disappeared.
In a state of panic, Pandol’s dad tried to get him to walk out of the hole by poking a stick inside. But the puppy felt frightened and assumed that he would get hurt if he showed up. And so, he decided to stay where he was and claimed it as his home for good.
The opening to Pandol’s little den was no more than 20 cm in width and height. Sure, he fitted right through it when he was a puppy. But once he was bigger in size, he definitely had to squeeze himself to get in and out.
No one ever saw Pandol step out of the hole, not even his mom and dad nor his neighbors. But they knew he was there. They also knew he walked out at night for a quick stroll. He was just right there. But after eight long years, it was time to get him into his real home.
Rescuers were called in to help capture Pandol. But way before they could lay out their plan, the dog stepped out of the hole and escaped. He was so frightened. And when they chased after him, he attempted to go back into the hole but it had been concealed.
At last, Pandol is safe. After living on his own in the dark, he can finally feel how great it is to be part of a loving family.
