Montgomery County Animal Services has been taking care of Rocky, a sweet old dog, after his owner could no longer really take care of him. And ever since the shelter took him in, Rocky was never once taken out of the shelter to be fostered. He wasn’t even given a chance to at least spend a night in a warm home instead of the shelter with plenty of other dogs.
But even though that was the case, Rocky refused to give up his hope that he will soon have his own family and home.
From the very start, the shelter staff could already see how easygoing Rocky was and that the only thing that he wanted was to be loved. Suzanne Hollifield who is currently the foster coordinator of the shelter also noted how sweet and energetic the dog was. Rocky enjoyed playing and running around with other dogs and was always happy. With his personality, the staff thought that it would be fairly easy to get him adopted.
But unfortunately for Rocky, he didn’t get adopted right away as the shelter hoped and soon enough, weeks quickly turned to months. And while he has an upbeat personality, the shelter life soon got to him. The staff definitely noticed how sad he was whenever he was inside his kennel. He just really wanted to have his own home and a family who would love him forever.
And of course, that is what his friends at the shelter want for him as well. Every staff member also works their very best to make sure that he gets to a loving home as soon as possible. It has been 250 days and counting of him looking for one.
According to the shelter staff, Rocky would thrive best on routine which means a family with a fairly predictable schedule will be great for him. He also loves to play and be outside most of the time so he’s also looking for an active family who could do that with him. He would definitely love to have another dog to play with but he’d rather stay away from the cats for now.
