The phrase “for better or for worse” isn’t only for marriage vows – it also applies to any relationship that is precious and something you want to keep. You stick with those you love and those who love you through everything, be it bad or good, because it shows how much you love them. This goes true even with your pets.
It sure feels bad knowing that some owners will abandon their pets at the slightest inconvenience. They would abandon their pets when they would have to put more attention and time into taking care of them, even for just a little while.
Pumba was one of these poor dogs. He had been used solely for breeding by his owner, and when Pumba had a health problem that the owner had to take care of, the owner didn’t hesitate to abandon him and let him fend for himself.
The worst thing was that Pumba can’t walk. But the owner clearly didn’t care about that. Luckily, a kind person called the rescue group Animal Aid Unlimited to help and rescue the poor dog.
The rescuers weren’t deterred by Pumba’s problems though. They instead were willing to work hard for Pumba to regain his ability to walk and they would nurse him back to health. What they did first was to let Pumba undergo hydrotherapy.
It seemed that Pumba wasn’t allowed to exercise by his owner, which added to the hardship because they first had to introduce him to movement. He was all for it though and gladly cooperated with his rescuers. It even seemed that Pumba enjoyed the water and was really grateful for the love he gets from everyone around him.
Pumba made great progress, and after six weeks, he was finally able to stand and walk around without any help. Even after all of it, maybe the best thing that happened was that Pumba learned the feeling of having a dog friend that he can play and run around with.
