Many dog owners would do anything to keep their fur babies happy.
This was true for people who decide to adopt rescue dogs, especially those who have been in shelters for too long. Take, for example, the story of Bentley, the rescued bloodhound.
KaTarra Taylor was the fifth person who decided to give this dog a chance at a forever home. His previous owners gave up on him, unwilling to put up with his problematic behavior. He didn’t trust humans and continuously acted out in aggression.
However, Taylor refused to give up. She didn’t want to let the ornery dog go back to the shelter again, so she worked doubly hard to train him. She focused on leash training, addressing his anxiety problems, and treating his allergies.
She also decided to move to a spacious place since their one-bedroom apartment wasn’t working for them. The problem was, she couldn’t find a place that would allow her to keep the 120-pound bloodhound. After countless hours of searching and negotiating, she ended up buying a townhouse instead.
As part of Bentley’s rehabilitation, Taylor frequently brought him to dog parks for socialization and a chance to have fun. She noticed that her dog loved lying on the grass, just relaxing and enjoying the sun. That’s when she had an idea.
With the help of her boyfriend, Taylor set out to convert their patio into a grassy spot for her Bentley to enjoy. They were able to finish the yard in record time and just under 400 dollars.
The moment Bentley saw his new yard, he wasted no time and immediately plopped down on the grass for several hours. He loved his new hangout. Taylor figured this would help the bloodhound work through his anxiety and aggression issues.
It was well worth the effort.
